My Checklist Before Choosing a Rental Car

When choosing Kerikeri rental cars, there are a few tips that I use to save money and avoid complications. For starters, I always check the total price of hiring a vehicle. There may be some additional costs such as an additional driver, distance limits, child seats, fees for drivers under a certain age, returning the vehicle late or beyond business hours, and crossing international borders. Some firms will even charge you for returning a car at a point different from your pick-up point. I also check my vehicle rental deposit to ensure that it’s being deducted from my total cost and isn’t a separate or additional fee.

It’s also important to read the fine print so that I know my rights as well as my obligations. I’m never shy to query about anything I do not understand before I sign my contract. One of the things I look at is the excess fee for damage since it may be very expensive. The insurance policy is also important to consider and I prefer comprehensive even if I have to pay a little bit extra. Another thing I consider is a company’s breakdown policy, and I like to know what I should do if the car breaks down.

Before booking my transport, I always check if there’s a cancelation policy and what it entails. It’s also prudent to check the car’s condition especially the equipment. If there’s damage to the windscreen, lights, tires or air-conditioning, it’s important to note that fact. It’s good for me to know where I’m allowed to go with the vehicle I hire. Some companies will put restrictions on the distance I’m allowed to travel with the hired vehicle. Last but not least, I always try to return rental cars within business hours. That way, there’s always someone to verify that there’s no damage that has occurred.
